Hardware Specifications (for server)

Minimum hardware specification

Don't try and run Opsview on with less than:

  • Single, modern processor
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 20GB Available storage (with data warehouse disabled)

Recommended hardware specification - up to 250 devices

  • Modern dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 80GB Available storage (with RAID 1, 0+1 or 10)

Recommended hardware specification - distributed monitoring

Master Server:

  • Two or more CPUs (preferably multi-core)
  • 2GB RAM
  • 250GB Available storage (with hardware RAID controller)

Slave Server:

  • One or more CPUs (preferably multi-core)
  • 1GB RAM
  • 20GB Available storage

Database Server:

  • Two or more CPUs (preferably multi-core)
  • 2-4GB RAM
  • 250GB Available storage (with hardware RAID controller)

Recommended hardware specification - very large system

For very large distributed monitoring systems we would recommend the following architecture:

  • 2x master servers in HA mode
  • 2x database servers in HA mode
  • External storage array for database servers
  • A slave cluster for each data centre (minimum of 2 servers)

Supported Web Browsers

Opsview presents the administrative and status interface via a web server. Opsview is tested with the following web browsers:

  • Firefox 2.x and 3.x
  • Internet Explorer 6 (SP3) and 7
  • Safari 2.x and 3.x

We test on latest release / patch levels of these browsers and therefore issues may exist with earlier versions we're unaware of.
